My clients and collaborators say…

 Evan Spiridellis

Co-Creator, StoryBots

“Scott is by far the most talented, versatile and dependable writer I have ever worked with. No joke. As a new media studio, our pipeline has shifted considerably over the 8 years we’ve worked together and with every new challenge Scott has knocked it out of the park! He has written ecards, political satires, children’s books, comics, website & marketing copy, daily poems, and he even learned how to write music for our StoryBots property. There truly is nothing that he can’t do and with every new project he never ceased to amaze.

I will add that working remotely normally comes with its challenges but with Scott it has been a dream. He is by far one of our most dependable and reliable employees (which is probably why we’ve been able to work remotely together for 8+ years!) One of the pleasures of working with Scott is that I never have to worry about directing him. I can send him a request, or in some cases a VERY loose idea, and trust that something solid will come back at me a few days later.

This also leads me to how collaborative and egoless Scott is. I can honestly say that I have never worked with someone as skilled as Scott that is as open to input and feedback. During the hundreds (probably thousands) of projects that we tackled together, Scott has *never* taken notes, edits or rejections personally. Everyone at the studio has a personal connection to the work they produce so that level of professionalism is almost unheard of. Plus, on the flip side of receiving notes, Scott’s willingness to share knowledge and help other team members is off the charts. For a guy that works halfway across the country he has managed to build deep relationships with the LA team and has mentored a number of our younger writers on their projects.

Finally, in addition to his incredible talent, wit and positive attitude, Scott is also shockingly fast! I have often marveled at his ability to turn around such high-quality work at such an amazing speed. I have worked with writers that could spend days (or weeks) on an assignment and not be able to achieve what Scott can do in an afternoon.

You can probably tell by now that I honestly can not say enough good things about Scott. I consider it an honor and a privilege to work with him and I am grateful for how much he has contributed to the studio!”

I’ve had the great pleasure of working with Scott on multiple projects, including innovating humor product for Hallmark Inc. Scott is a highly productive talent who always delivers inventive, first-rate work! As a leading contributor to Hallmark’s humor line Shoebox, he originated hit card collections and blog features and nailed the brand voice of partners like The Simpsons. A former Greek and Latin Classics professor who’s equally conversant with trending memes, Scott inspires everyone around him to take up their creative game! Plus, he’s a natural team player who’s a delight to work with!

Being a master wordsmith, Scott understands how his work fits best within different mediums, be it describing vivid details in a children's book or leaving gaps in a song's lyrics to allow for animated visuals to shine. He's very receptive to feedback and an absolute pleasure to work with, and despite working remotely, I always enjoyed the rare occasions when we would interact face-to-face. A+ and highly recommended!!!

As an editorial director at Hallmark, some of our best and most profitable programs included Scott. It was always a given that his brilliant writing and collaborative nature would set the highest standard for our group, but even before actual content development, Scott greatly influenced strategy. He has an uncanny intuition for what people need, what inspires kids to laugh and learn, how to engage adults in play, and ultimately how to develop content that is unique, memorable, and helps us connect with one another.

Scott's incredible talent and abilities are a natural fit for consumer products and entertainment, however, I could see him having a great impact in areas of healthcare and medicine or any industry where there is a shortage of humor and play to promote healing. Scott's work reflects brilliantly crafted ideas, unique playful and humorous content, but more importantly, his ideas have heart.

Scott is one of the most talented writers I've ever worked with. I worked with him on numerous projects for Jibjab and Storybots, and he always overdelivered, and rarely needed notes. If you need something for kids, he's your guy, if you need something sharp and snappy for adults, he can do it too. He's also one of the best rhymed writers I've ever seen (and I've worked in kids’ books for a while!)

Scott is the consummate creative writing professional. He and I worked together on several projects when I was a humor editor at Hallmark Cards. We could always count on Scott to deliver timely, quality humor writing on a consistent basis, regardless of the occasion or the sending situation. His specialty at Hallmark was crafted humorous verse, but he could "write funny" in all forms. The work he turned in was always fine-tuned, and rarely required rewrites or significant edits. Additionally, Scott is a delight to work with, and would be a great addition to any creative team.

I had the pleasure of working with Scott for 5 years, and he is one of the most talented and dependable people I know. Whether we needed him to write ecards, children's books, songs, or marketing copy, he was always efficient, creative, and thorough. In addition to his writing ability, he also had great research skills and would gracefully tackle any challenge that we threw at him. Scott worked remotely but was always incredibly quick to respond to requests and never had a problem with communication. It was also always a pleasure seeing him a couple times a year when he would make the trek out to Los Angeles, and he was basically a legend amongst the team for his writing ability. Working with Scott was always a joy, and I continued to be amazed by his versatility and willingness to try new things. I would work with him again in a heartbeat, and any team would be incredibly lucky to have him.

I have known Scott Emmons since 2015, when I became Digital Creative Director for StoryBots at JibJab Bros. Studios. He was a major contributor to StoryBots, writing nearly all our e-book scripts and several series of educational songs. He was always quick to respond to new assignments and worked well with the directors to produce the best possible content. Outside of JibJab, Scott and I had a pleasant and productive collaboration on our children's book, Hugo Makes a Change, which was published by Nobrow Press in 2017. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled writer with a good creative mind!

I worked with Scott while he was a writer at Hallmark Cards. Scott was one of those creative soulmates whose work seemed tailor-made for my own. There's usually a push and pull of show and/or tell when words and art come together. But with Scott the task was usually easier and always fun. I thought it was a unique partnership, but Scott plays well with everyone. Clever, creative, witty, funny and a truly caring guy - yeah, he's kind of special.
