Hallmark Inc.

I began my professional writing career in the humor studio at Hallmark, where I helped consumers connect by creating fun, positive, sharable greeting card messages. Hallmark taught me to write with a clear business objective, to channel my creativity into messages that consumers want to buy and send. I wrote many bestselling cards, some of which you may have sent or received yourself. 

Jib Jab & Storybots

In 2010 I took a job with JibJab, writing for e-cards and tentpole features like the annual JibJab Year in Review. There I learned to adapt my writing to the kind of visual storytelling needed for short animations. As JibJab’s only full-time staff writer, I also created most of the SEO-optimized sell copy for our e-cards and other content.

 JibJab was just then beginning its foray into children’s content with a line of personalized e-books, almost all of which I wrote. I had the exciting experience of helping to develop the StoryBots property, contributing many educational songs and other content to what soon became an Emmy-winning Netflix series, “Ask the StoryBots.”
